Outdoor Growing

    Spring is the time for outdoor growers to begin preparing their plantations. For many cannabis lovers outdoor growing is the only preferable option. Indeed, its advantages are undeniable! Solar radiation is richer and more powerful than even the most advanced growing lights. And besides, the ventilation of a grow box is inevitably inferior to the natural movement of air that sways plants in nature and gives them the best breathing.

    No wonder outdoor marijuana is healthier and often less problematic to handle!

Growing Marijuana Outdoors: Peculiarities

  • Need for a safe place, easily accessible to you, but not visited by others;
  • The ground must be plowed and weeds removed before planting;
  • The whole life-period (vegetating, flowering and maturation) must take place at a temperature suitable for cannabis (15°C). That’s why the primary task is to select a variety with a life duration adequate to your climate. Seeds must be planted in spring – late enough so the weather gets no colder than 15°C, and yet early enough for the plant to mature before the autumn cold begins;
  • Also, the strain should be chosen with regard to the local climatic conditions. Some varieties tolerate heat well, but don’t “like” high humidity, some strains are otherwise.

Choosing a Cannabis Strain for Outdoor Growing

    The easiest way to know when to start planting is to use a folk method: when the lilacs are in bloom, it means that there will be no more cold weather this spring. Thus, as soon as the lilacs have started blooming, cannabis seeds or marijuana seedlings can be planted out of doors.

    A wise choice of a variety, consequently, means that you buy cannabis seeds that will have time to fully mature before the temperature drops in autumn. Certainly, photoperiod varieties with longer flowering are likely to finish maturing successfully only in warmer climates with warm autumn. In a moderate climate end of September is often too cold already.

    So, if you don’t live in a tropical location, pure Sativa can only be grown in a greenhouse. But Indica and hybrids, especially automatic-flowering, will be a good choice. Namely, such strains are appropriate for colder locations:

    Note: if you go with a pure Sativa and a greenhouse, be sure to take into account that Sativa tends to grow even when flowering starts. Thus it often breaks the roof from inside when a greenhouse isn’t built tall enough.

    In such warm places as California, Crimea, Thailand, or Spain pure Sativa cannabis can be grown. A higher humidity is just what Sativa wants! And the summer lasts longer, allowing such marijuana to finish maturing. Thus, Sativa can be planted here until the very beginning of July and harvested in November.

 Our best Sativa marijuana varieties recommended for outdoor cultivation are - Divine Sativa, Jamaica Sativa, Power Africa, Auto Kali Mist Feminized,  White Widow, Green Gelato Pablo Escobar, Tangie, Big Bang, Green Crack.

    Certainly any of the strains listed in the previous paragraph will be just as pleasant to grow in a hospitable seaside climate! 2-3 harvests in a single season are possible in this case.

    Note: pure Sativa isn’t good at tolerating hot and dry weather, it also requires more moisture. Sativa shouldn’t be grown on a sunny spot that has no shade at all. Also, a square of straw (or last year's leaves) should be lain on the ground around the bush covering about 40x40 cm – this layer of organic matter retains moisture in the ground.
